COMPOSER JOSÉ LUIS GRECO

At TRISKELION MUSIC, we are deeply proud and excited to count José Luis Greco among our composers. He has entrusted us as publishers to bring some of his works to life, starting this journey with the publication of his extraordinary opera Malaspina or the Idea of Happiness.
Malaspina or the Idea of Happiness is a two-act opera that recounts key moments in the life of Italo-Spanish navigator Alejandro Malaspina, captain of the last great global Spanish expedition of the 18th century. With a libretto by Pierre Elie Mamou, this work explores themes such as the awakening of love, the exploration of nature, and the devastating impact of colonialism, enriched by unforgettable characters that add depth to this captivating historical narrative. (If you would like more information about this opera or further details, please do not hesitate to contact us; we would be delighted to assist you.)
José Luis Greco, born in New York in 1953, hails from a family with a remarkable artistic legacy: he is the son of dancers José Greco and Nila Amparo and nephew of Metropolitan Opera diva Norina Greco. From a young age, his talent and passion for the arts led him to excel as a pianist, guitarist, actor, and dancer. With a strong academic background, he earned a Bachelor of Music from City College of New York and later a Master’s and Doctorate in Composition from Columbia University.
His career highlights include the transcription and orchestration of Ravi Shankar’s Second Concerto for Sitar and Orchestra, Raga-Mala, and the composition of his first opera, Aria da Capo. In the 1980s, as a co-founder of the interdisciplinary company Cloud Chamber in Amsterdam, he demonstrated his ability to blend diverse artistic disciplines.
Since 1994, Greco has resided in Madrid, where his works have been performed by renowned orchestras, soloists, and chamber groups at Spain’s most prestigious festivals and venues. His discography features labels such as Naxos, IBS, Channel Classics, and Warner Classics, among others, and his artistic legacy is being curated by the National Library of Spain. Furthermore, he is a member of the Royal Spanish-American Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters.
At TRISKELION MUSIC, we celebrate the talent and dedication of José Luis Greco, whose work continues to inspire and enrich the cultural landscape. His collaboration with us reaffirms our commitment to the musical world and our support for distinguished creators.

EL CAMÍN DE LOS SANTUARIOS

Gabriel Ordás, composer and sound innovator, has published several works with our editorial and is currently enjoying a composition scholarship granted by the Manhattan School of Music. His most recent work has been a unique project: the creation of the soundtrack for “El camin de los santuarios,” a virtual reality documentary about the sanctuaries located between Santander and Oviedo. This work offers a true sonic immersion, with half an hour of music distributed over 13 tracks that take the viewer on a journey through landscapes filled with history and spirituality.
In this project, Gabriel has taken on multiple roles, demonstrating his versatility as a composer and performer. He has been responsible for the composition, digital programming, and the recording of several real instruments, starting with his own violin performance. Additionally, he collaborated with other talented musicians, such as a flutist, a cellist, and a violist, who added depth and nuance to the soundtrack.
“El camin de los santuarios” is a clear example of Gabriel’s ability to blend traditional music with the most modern technologies, creating a unique sound that captivates both with its emotional depth and innovative character. This work stands out not only for its technical quality but also for its ability to connect with the viewer through music, creating an immersive and emotional experience that goes beyond the image.
We invite you to check out a link to his YouTube channel where you can listen to this fantastic work, as well as a link to his personal website, where you can learn more about this composer, who continues to surprise and move us with his music. Gabriel Ordás – YouTube
